Brooke is in physical training right now with James.  He was the one to do accupuncture this morning also.  After that experience, I didn't think Brooke would let him anywhere near her.  I will not sugarcoat this, it was truly traumatic.  He intended on inserting needles in her lower leg and also her forearms.  Well he put the first 3 in her lower leg on the right and oh my she was screaming.   She was kicking and moving her arms and flailing.  He went to put one in her arm, right near the elbow and I thought are you crazy??  She is moving too much.  I told him no more, take them out, right now.  We are done with this.  He seemed to think she would be okay after the needles were in, course I knew better and said stop.  She was far over the edge, no return.  It didn't help that 2 more nurses came in to hold her limbs.  It was pure torture.  Maybe it works for some, but not for us.  I have only seen other kids with the needles in their head, one was being done just now and she seemed to tolerate it.  I cannot see how.  There is an adult here with ataxia and she said the needles hurt.  I was very upset and we will not be trying that anymore.  We then went for a walk, went to the store a bit, it's sunny here but breezy.  Maybe mid 50's or so.   We need jackets today.  nbc guys offered to take us to West Lake tonight, there is a street there famous for shopping that they know of, will be better than the stores within walking to hospital.  Will be nice to do something fun after today's awful experience.  We met with the Doc again this a.m.  They do rounds every day.  He is the one who will do the injections.  Brooke will go down to the third floor to a surgery room.  It is sterile and she will be sedated.   She will lie for 6 hours on her back following.  NO food, only water and she will drink while lying down.   nbc is talking about doing a live broadcast on the Matt Lauer Show.   I'll have to be careful not to bash the whole accupuncture idea.  They did interview right after, I was pretty upset still but kept positive about why we are here.  We are doing the right thing, just accupuncture is not in the mix for us.  Thank you all for your prayers, she will go in tomorrow at 3:30 for her first injection.  Will keep you all posted.  Thanks for caring.  Vicki and Brooke
Tomans are doing great, and a big help both of them.  Bye for now.

      Hello Vicki,
How traumatic for Brooke. Acupuncture can be scary. Poor sweet thing. My horse gets acupuncture (ask Peter!) and he has tough skin... the vet always says he will settle but it takes him over 45 minutes. Then when the vet even is in eye site he turns his back to her and is not real fond of her. What I feel strongly about it aromatherapy.... I use flower essence blends on him before the treatment. IT really works... I actually am treating the ailments of my horses with Chinese medicine. What about some blended oils for Brooke as she under goes her treatments. Lavender is such a calming oil.
We think about you all often. Prayers, Susan Pralle

Oh poor Tootsie, I feel bad for her, but hopefuly somehow she will forget experiencing that. Susan's idea sounds good, just too help comfort her. I think you should take her shopping when you get a chance, & maybe there is something she will just have to have whether it is a stuffed animal or something that she could take with her when she goes to the hospital etc. for treatmens to be done,i know you said she will be out, but just something that can maybe comfort her that is soft & cozy
Hope things get better for her...thinking of you....Love, Kelsey
