Just when things looked to be falling into place, Brooke got fiercely ill beginning Monday night.  Flu bug, BAD.  Unable to keep anything down, even clear liquids, we hit the road last night (Wed night) for Children's Hospital.  Being on the Ketogenic Diet with the possibility of dehydration is very serious.  She may have gotten too ketotic and possibly gotten hypoglycemic.  Arrive at Children's 5:45pm ER is packed, triage at 6:30, into a room at 9:00, Doctor came in at 10:30pm, nurse starts IV and a med to control nausea, released papers signed at 1:45am.    Home by 2:30am, needless to say she is still sleeping.  Thank God.  She was so pitiful, but after being hydrated, perked up some and when she wakes I hope to see that sparkle back!   NBC comes today at 1:00, so I best get moving.  I think I'm even ready for a coffee today.  (not desirable when you're fighting the flu)   Donut doesn't sound too bad either,  YES I believe I'm back.  I just hope Brooke is, she doesn't have much time to recover here.  We'll be pulling out the driveway at 6am tomorrow morning.  (Friday)  Guess I should consider packing soon?????  If all goes well, and no more speed bumps......
Thanks for your prayers.
Carrie you saved the day yesterday picking up Brady.  That was a GREAT help and I loved your card.  I'm taking that with me, the verse is perfect.  I'll share it on here when I get a second.
Love to all, we will miss you.  I'll have my laptop to keep us connected.  Thanks Craig!

What a couple of troopers you are. Honestly, one of these days, it's going to get easier. I am so glad to know she's home in her own bed with everyone with her. Hope things go well today with the news people. See you tomorrow about 5:45 a.m. or so. How many boxes of kleenex should I bring? Love to all. God Speed.
PS Best wishes to Cindy and Petah for a smooth ride and a wonderful experience in China.

Just a coffee pot left to pack.
Peter has conferences tonight, then he's heading to his girlfriend's for supper. He needs to pack when he gets home. Up early and to Ed and Vick's by 5:30 for coffee. It's been a tough day filled with good-byes but I'm keeping all of you in my heart until I return!
      Love,
      Cindy and Peter

      Vicki-
I hope Brooke is doing better. Let Brooke know that all her friends at school say "goodbye"~and they can't wait until she comes back. Hunter says she is "going to be so bored" while Brooke is gone.
Take good care and have a safe trip!

        Hello Travis:
My aunt is writing this for me.
Thank you for writing! Things are going well so far. Very loooong flight but I didn't mind at all. The nurses are very nice here but they don't talk like we do!
They took some blood from my arm. I whined but didn't cry. The Dr. came in to do a physical, too. That was easy.
Me and my Mom are out shopping right now so I'll let you know how that went.
The camera crew from channel 4 was at the airport to meet us and they are with us now. They are very nice people.
Thank you for writing. Tell Emily I say hi back!!
        Love from China!
        Brooke

Hi Miss Brooke & everyone else that headed to China I hope you all made it thru the flight ok, I dreamt last night that at the last minute Tony & I went & to make a long story short, the plane was huge & there was a special room for Brooke on the plane where she could lay down if she wanted to rest in a comfortable bed or just a nice room to play & the family could be in there too....I'm doubting that is what she experienced on the plane, but it was a neat happy dream I was up quite a bit & thinking wow they are probably almost there. I bet the weather is great compared to here, it probably feels like 90 being in the 70's since it has been so cold here! Well take care & hope all is well Love, Kelsey

Hey all! We hope that you had a safe flight. (Maybe the 15 hours didn't seem too long?!?) We have Brady here right now, playing with his video game. He wanted to say Hi to his mom and Brooke, and says that he wishes Brooke good luck in China and that he loves you guys! He is such a sweetie! We hope to keep in touch while you are over in China. Much love, Vicki, Cindy, Brooke and Peter!

Hello Everyone! Vicki wanted to post to the main page but had trouble accessing it.
The flight was looooong but smooth as silk. Brooke did beautifully...not a peep!!
We had a 2 hr. ride to the hospital from the airport. They fly on the interstate! Yikes! But very little traffic...not like I-94 during rush hour. They beep their horn all the time to make other cars aware that they are there. It was quite an entourage with 3 families and their luggage. Luggage and 5 people, including driver and nurse in one old ambulance and everyone else in an SUV.
We were exhausted when we arrived. Camera crew met us at the airport and the way the Chinese people bustle around, it was quite an experience. And through all the excitement, I just tried to make sure Vicki and Brooke were never separated and me and Peter were never separated.
Peter, Vicki, Brooke and camera crew went to the supermarket. Our interpreter is a wonderful gal and works so very hard to see we have everything we need.
Peter has been awesome, running for this and that, putting this together, plugging that in..making coffee and running to serve it. I think he'll be ready to come home in 2 weeks so he can take it easy.
Everyone here hustles big time. Running often.
Brooke had blood drawn this a.m. She did good. The dr. came in for a physical. Very basic. Finger tracking, reflexes. Some ways that they do things seem rather 1950's but then I remind myself that we're here for stem cell therapy.
Her first injection will be Monday, IV and will happen here in her room as did the blood draw. I noticed no gloves worn and didn't see anyone washing their hands prior to blood draw. They'd close my work down for that sort of thing.
Anyway, that's our update. Get the word out about Toot's website so the family can see. Someone please be sure to share it with Mom.
I'm sure Vicki will get in touch with all soon.
We're thinking of Brady and Ed all of the time!!
      Love to all of you!!
      Cindy, Peter, Vicki and Brooke

        Hello Pralles!
Thank you for the prayers while we're in China. Brooke gets her first stem cell injection on Wed. Tomorrow will be acupuncture...that should be interesting. Some of the kids do beautifully with it, some not so well. I'll let you know which category Brooke falls into!
The camera crew has been very helpful. Fritz is rather fluent in Chinese so that's a huge help!
        Love to all.
